Air Purification Systems for Metalworking & Fab shops
At Ecolo-Tech, we provide custom dust collection systems for metalworking applications. We have over 65 years of experience installing custom dust collection systems for fabrication shops, automotive OEMs, and other manufacturers that use metalworking processes. We want to make sure that your shop has healthy, breathable air.
Types of Metalworking Particulate
Before metal can be welded or joined, it must be prepped. Common surface preparation processes like metal cutting, forming, grinding, buffing, and polishing can generate toxic dusts and fumes that need to be removed to maintain healthy air quality in a fabrication shop. There are three main types of particulate generated from machining processes.
- Mists & fumes from metalworking machines: Cooling lubricant used to extend the life of your machine can generate smoke and mist emissions. We can fabricate a mist-fume collector to capture this wet particulate and remove it from the facility to make sure that your facility is free of heavy, unsafe fumes.
- Metal Dusts & fine particulates: When metal is ground or cut down, it generates metal oxide dust from materials such as aluminum, titanium, magnesium, and zirconium. If these are not collected properly, they risk becoming fire hazards or explosive. Processes that use stainless steel or chromium elements are especially harmful and potentially carcinogenic. Capturing these metal dusts can help to ensure that your facility is safe and complies with OSHA and NFPA regulations.
- Grit from buffing/polishing operations: Our equipment also helps to capture elements like sand and other grit that is used in the metal cleaning process.
Bag Media Collectors
Our bag media collectors are particularly well-suited for grinding applications because they can extract the coolant from machines while also collecting the metal dust released during this process. We also offer Smog-Hog electrostatic precipitator collectors for processes such as laser/flame cutting, milling, and screw machining. In addition to providing these machines, we also custom fabricate the hoodwork and ductwork needed for a large-scale dust collection system. Cartridge collectors are also a great option for metalworking applications.
Complying with Regulations
There are many advantages to maintaining clean air in your facility. Dust collection equipment helps to prevent employee accidents, reducing expensive worker’s compensation claims, and ultimately making the working environment safer and more productive. Additionally, our equipment can help your facility to comply with regulations including OSHA, EPA, and NFPA regulations. Non-compliance with OSHA can also result in expensive penalty fees. Installing a custom dust collection system ensures that you can comply with regulations while maintaining a safe working environment.
